Children are among the largest users of the internet, including social media. Unfortunately, their familiarity with multiple platforms often comes with a lack of knowledge on keeping themselves and others safe, and even misuse or abuse in some cases. With this concern in mind, we developed the Cyber Safety for Kids program. This program strives to bolster the digital literacy and technical know-how of children, parents, and educators, equipping them to navigate online spaces safely. It also offers hands-on workshops and supplementary training for educators, enabling them to identify risks and implement effective security measures.
This year, Bullyid App had the honor of participating in the ChangemakerXchange Changemakers for Education initiative. The program aims to empower 25 young education changemakers across Asia through capacity building, collaborative funding, and networking sessions. By participating in this program, we were able to share the importance of making digital safety education accessible to everyone: children, parents, and teachers. When children are equipped with the required knowledge and skills on using the internet safely and responsibly, they are able to not just protect themselves, but also those around them. Furthermore, our Cyber Safety for Kids program is a part of enacting self-development and continuous growth in children’s education in Asia, especially those from underprivileged areas.
