Creating safer and more inclusive workplaces across Southeast Asia
A safe workplace empowers organizations to thrive — improving productivity, employee well-being, and overall impact. Reflecting this shared vision, Bullyid App, a tech non-profit dedicated to preventing workplace violence and promoting mental health, collaborated with Water.org, a global nonprofit organization focused on safe water and sanitation, to deliver Workplace Harassment Prevention Training for its Southeast Asia team.
Empowering Teams Through Awareness and Action
Held virtually on September 29–30, 2025, the two-day program focused on preventing workplace harassment, bullying, and violence, while promoting a culture of safety, respect, and inclusion.
Despite the online format, engagement remained high — both managers and employees actively participated in interactive Q&A sessions, real-life case discussions, and scenario-based exercises tailored to Water.org’s multinational workforce.
The training highlighted practical strategies to recognize, prevent, and respond to different forms of workplace harassment and abuse of power.
Expert-Led Sessions on Workplace Safety and Mental Health
The sessions were facilitated by a team of experienced professionals who specialize in human resources, psychology, and policy:
Agita Pasaribu, S.H., M.A., Founder and Executive Director of Bullyid App, led the session on Understanding Different Types of Harassment. She emphasized the importance of recognizing verbal, physical, psychological, and digital forms of harassment, and how organizational policies and leadership can create a culture of accountability and safety.
Irvandias Sanjaya, S.Psi., HR expert and workplace behavior specialist, discussed preventing and managing workplace violence, offering actionable insights for early intervention and policy enforcement.
Olphi Disya Arinda, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psikolog, licensed clinical psychologist, provided a session on Psychological First Aid and trauma-informed approaches, equipping participants to respond with empathy and professionalism when dealing with affected employees.
This collaboration underscores Water.org’s commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace environment — a mission that aligns with Bullyid App’s advocacy for a safe workplace for all, without borders.
Cultural Considerations in Indonesia and Southeast Asia
Understanding cultural context is vital to effective workplace safety training.
In Indonesia and many Southeast Asian cultures, hierarchical norms, stigma, and collectivist values can make it challenging for employees to report harassment.
Bullyid App’s training integrates these insights into every program by:
Reassuring employees that reporting misconduct is not disrespectful, even when involving senior staff.
Emphasizing confidentiality and respect to reduce shame and stigma.
Promoting the message that seeking help is not selfish, but essential for collective well-being and team safety.
Why Workplace Harassment Prevention Training Matters
Workplace harassment and violence negatively impact mental health, productivity, and organizational trust.
In Southeast Asia, where diverse cultural and regulatory frameworks exist, Workplace Harassment Prevention Training is not only a compliance measure — it is a strategic investment in long-term sustainability and employee well-being.
Through Bullyid App’s training, companies gain:
Awareness of legal frameworks and reporting mechanisms in Indonesia and regional jurisdictions.
Practical tools to identify, prevent, and manage different forms of harassment and violence.
Strengthened leadership and communication in handling sensitive cases.
Enhanced organizational reputation through policy-driven safety practices.
